Are open chain Quads exercises dangerous after an ACL reconstruction?

Many physios including myself have been told of the dangers of open chain quads exercises to somebody rehabilitating an ACL reconstruction. It had been said that it is too risky to the graft due to the high strain of an open chain exercise such as a leg extension but is this really true or not?
