Does foam rolling release your ITB?

“I’m going to foam roll my ITB to release it!” You hear this all the time but can you release your ITB? Firstly, your ITB isn’t a muscle, so it cannot contract or relax and it doesn’t respond like a muscle to stretch, pressure or load. So does foam rolling release your ITB?
