Step by Step

  1. This is a good exercise for people needing excellent overhead mobility such as swimmers or tennis players.
  2. Like any exercise you should only do the exercise if it is pain free during, after and the next day.
  3. Lying on the floor on your back, with your knee bent up and your feet flat
  4. With your arms by your sides, squeeze your shoulder blades together and downwards
  5. Next use your abdominals to push your lower back into the ground.
  6. These two elements need to stay the same throughout the exercise.
  7. Now take your arms out to the sides, perpendicular to the body, bend your elbows to 90 degrees and place the whole arm down in contact with the floor, palm side up.
  8. Next slide your arms up till they are above your head.
  9. Remember do not lose your lower back or shoulder blade positions and keep your arms in full contact all the way through if possible.
  10. Next slowly return to the start position and repeat.
  11. Perform 10 reps and you should aim to perform this stretch between 4-6 times daily.

Online Physiotherapy

Put simply this is Physio done via either telephone or video over the internet. Skype and facetime are examples of this.

Contrary to popular belief online physiotherapy can be very effective and it can help the same injuries that face to face physio can help. I have helped many people with injuries such as disc prolapses, tennis elbow, neck pain and much more).
